The Don Linklater Memorial Bursary, valued at $3000 per year for up to three years, aims to support students studying in areas relevant to Horizons Regional Council's work; in particular resource management, river and drainage engineering and modelling, and enviromental planning.

Bursary applications typically open in March each year and students must be studying, or planning to study, at a New Zealand university fulltime in either under-graduate or post-graduate level (internally or extramurally) in one of the existing following fields to be eligible:

  • Resource management;
  • River and drainage engineering and modelling with particular emphasis on river and drainage basin dynamics; or
  • Environmental planning.
Students must also be New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents and live in the Horizons Region (although students may be studying elsewhere in New Zealand).
