This page is home to all the latest notices regarding our bus services. 


Wednesday 1 April update

Please note that during the COVID-19 lockdown, public transport will be focused on allowing essential workers to travel between their homes and workplaces; and to allow the public access to food and medical care.

Horizons will be assisting our health services with contact tracing. 
This means that every time someone uses the bus, it’s important that they record their trip details and contact information. This is so we can provide this information to the Ministry of Health if it is requested. 

Every time you use the bus, you must either call us on 0508 800 800 to fill it out for you, or fill in this form.

Service changes:
Palmerston North Urban services: Monday to Saturday services will operate to a Saturday timetable. Sunday will operate to a Sunday timetable.

Massey services: Monday to Saturday services will operate to a Saturday timetable. Sunday will operate to a Sunday timetable. Please note: No pick ups/drop offs from IPU, as they are also in lock down. Buses will enter and exit via the carpark. 

Summerhill services: Cancelled until further notice

Ashhurst services: Monday to Saturday services will operate to a Saturday timetable. No services will operate on Sundays.

Feilding services: Monday to Saturday services will operate to a Saturday timetable. No services will operate on Sundays.

Whanganui Urban services: Monday to Saturday services will operate to a Saturday timetable. No services operate on Sundays.

Whanganui - Palmerston North service: Cancelled until further notice.

Marton to Palmerston North commuter service: will be stopping in Sanson – so no need to book ahead. 
At the moment, the Uzabus office is closed, so there is no need to phone the bus operator to arrange a pickup in Sanson.

Levin - Palmerston North service: Cancelled until further notice.

Levin - Waikanae service: Cancelled until further notice.

Horowhenua Day Out In Town service: Operates as normal until further notice.

Taihape - Palmerston North/Whanganui service: Cancelled until further notice.

Raetihi - Ohakune services: Operates as normal until further notice.

Thank you for your understanding as we continue to work through what the COVID-19 response implications mean for our bus services. We understand that our bus services provide access to essential services and we are working to keep bus services going.
Fares are free, effective immediately.  Please use the rear door only for entry and exit. Seats will be reserved or blocked off to provide distance between passengers and also between the driver, please respect this and try to maintain a safe physical distance wherever possible.

Other notices:

Feilding and Palmerston North residents are being asked to provide feedback on proposed possible changes to the Feilding - Palmerston North passenger transport service that have been developed as part of a mid-term review. Head to www.horizons.govt.nz/Buses-Transport/Feilding-Bus-Review for more information and to have your say. 

Due to roadworks on Long Melford Drive, the Awapuni and Rugby services will be detoured. The services will travel directly along Maxwells Line between Slacks Rd and Rugby St. We are expecting the detour to be in place for 10-15 working days. We have put temporary bus stops in on Maxwells Line between College St and Long Melford Rd. We will be providing updates as the work progresses. We apologise for any inconveince that this causes.

As a part of PNCC Streets for People program, The Square between Main St and Church St will be closed to all road traffic. As a result the following services will be re-routed via the Ring Road (Princess St, Fergusson St and Pitt St);

  • 9 Rangiora
  • 10 Brightwater
  • 12 Massey 
  • 12B Massey via Rugby St
  • 14 IPU
  • 15 Massey via Hokowhitu Campus
  • 33 Summerhill
Due to the detour the buses will not pass the bus stops at 50 and 57 Fitzherbert Avenue. Alternative stops are available at 117 and 136 Fitzherbert Ave.

In addition on the 1 Awapuni and the 2 Rugby services the bus stops at 321 and 332 Church St will also be closed as these services will be turning onto the Ring Road at Pitt St.​

There is no changes to the timetable and we expect this to have a small impact on the running times for these services. We apologise for any inconvenience, and we hope to get these service back to their usual routes as soon as we are able to.

From the 14th of January 2020 we will be temporarily increasing the level of service between Raetihi and Ohakune. The service will be increased to twice a week with a service operating on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The increased services will operate until the 2nd of April.  

Due to feedback we have made a change to the 3pm Aramoho Orange service. The service will now run along Victoria Avenue and Glasgow St before resume its regular route on Somme Parade. Please be advised that we are in the process of updated the timetable to reflect these change and hope to have updated timetables circulating very soon. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Effective Monday 4 March 2019, the 12A/14 services to Massey at 8.20am and 9.25am will be renamed 14A. 
Change applies to semester one and two services only.

Route description:
Main Street Terminal, Princess Street, Ferguson Street, Albert Street, Te Awe Awe Street, Fitzherbert Avenue, IPU, Massey.

UCOL staff and students are able to travel for free on the following services: Palmerston North Urban, Whanganui Urban, Whanganui-Palmerston North Commuter and Feilding. (Ashhurst, Marton and Levin excluded.)
