Resources WaterWaiora kit – an entire teaching unit aimed at introducing the concept of stream health, how to measure it, and how it can be impacted upon by humans. The kit contains a teacher's guide and equipment for calculating stream flow, temperature, clarity and carrying out a simple habitat survey. This kit is best demonstrated by one of our educators the first time it is used. SHMAK kit – a stream health monitoring kit aimed at community groups and individuals. It leads participants through the process of how to measure various water quality parameters, setting up a monitoring programme, and how to interpret your results. The kit contains a manual and equipment for calculating stream flow, temperature, clarity, conductivity and pH, and for identifying stream insects. This kit does not need to be demonstrated by one of our educators. Enviroscape model – a physical landscape model that demonstrates how different contaminants can get into waterways, lakes or groundwater, and what measures can be used to stop/prevent pollution. This model is best demonstrated by one of our educators. Groundwater model – a physical groundwater model that can be used to show what groundwater is, how bores work, and how contaminants can get into groundwater. Longfin – follows the lifecycle of one of our more secretive animals, the longfin eel (30 minutes). Fish for tomorrow? – packed with lots of information about the state of the world’s fisheries and asks ‘where will our fish come from in the future?’. Best suited to older students (10 minutes).
