Major roadworks are starting Monday 12 October around the city bus terminal in Main Street, Palmerston North for approximately four weeks.  Services may have to divert when entering and exiting the terminal and delays may be possible.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our passengers.

Linton shopper trial needs you

Linton residents are now able to travel to Palmerston North on a special 'shoppers' bus operating two days a week

Horizons Regional Council has announced that after discussions with the New Zealand Army, it will start a 12 month trial of a bus service for Linton residents wanting to shop, attend medical appointments or do other business in Palmerston North.

The service, which started Tuesday April 2, will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays and leave from the Linton shopping centre on the corner of Bells and Jarvois Roads.

"The service is the result of the findings of a survey of Linton residents carried outlast year by the Army," said Horizons Transport Planner Wayne Wallace.

"Petrol prices are high, economically times are difficult and Linton's population hasgrwon recently so we hope to see plenty of passengers giving the trail a go," said Mr Wallace. "As with all trial services, it is a case of use it or lose it."

Buses will depart from Linton at 10am and the return service will leave the MAin Street Terminal in Palmerston North at 2pm. A single trip will cost $3 for adults and $1.50 for children. Under fives and SuperGold card holders will travel for free.

Changes to Ashhurst to Palmerston North bus service

Horizons Regional Council has revised its Ashhurst bus service. Current service provider Tranzit Coachlines has been awarded a new contract for the revised service, starting on April 2, said Horizons Transport Planner Wayne Wallace.

"Unfortunately, due to a lack of patronage we have had to drop the Saturday service but the Tuesday and Thursday services will remain unchanged," said Mr Wallace.

"Tranzit's Masterton-Palmerston North service will stop at the Plunket rooms in Ashhurst on Saturdays, but the change to our service means there will be no loop service around Ashhurst on Saturdays from April."

The Tuesday and Thursday services will remain unchanged with the bus leaving the Ashhurst Plunket rooms at 10am and 2.20pm, and returning from the Main Street Terminal in Palmerston North at 2pm on those days.

There has been no change to the fares, with adults paying $3 for each way and children $1.50. Children under five and SuperGold card holders travel for free.

"It's a case of use it or lose it, and we hope Ashhurst residents will continue using their weekday service so we can continue to offer it in the future," said Mr Wallace.
