Road Safety

As Regional Council, it is our role to coordinate land transport planning within the region, plan and implement public passenger transport services and coordinate and implement a Road Safety Action Plan and activities.

Horizons currently employs three Road Safety Coordinators who take responsibility for road safety initiatives in Whanganui, Rangitīkei, Tararua, Manawatū, Palmerston North and Horowhenua. These positions are part funded by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) and work collaboratively with local district and city council roading teams, police, ACC and community groups to try and reduce the number and social cost of crashes in our region. Our Road Safety Coordinators are always available for advice and support. Got a question for our Coordinators? Get in touch.

Driver licence providers

There are several driver licencing providers within our region which we have listed below.
The NZ Transport Agency has helpful information, as does Drive, a collaborative website between ACC, NZTA and the Government. We also recommend AA's Motoring Driving School app which can be downloaded for Android or Apple
