Introduction

Manawatu-Wanganui Regional Council has received an application from the Horowhenua District Council for the continued operation of the Tokomaru Wastewater Treatment Plant, 30 Nikau Street, Tokomaru.

Application Details

Resource Consents being sought from Manawatu-Wanganui Regional Council:

Treated Effluent Wetland Discharge: 

To discharge treated effluent to land via a constructed wetland, where it may enter groundwater, from the Tokomaru Wastewater Treatment Plant        
 
Treated Domestic Effluent Discharge:
To discharge treated effluent to a surface water body (Centre Drain) at a maximum rate of 250 cubic metres per day from the Tokomaru Wastewater Treatment Plant. Centre Drain discharges into Linton Main Drain, which discharges into the Tokomaru River.
 
Odour Discharge:
To discharge contaminants (principally odour) to air from the Tokomaru Wastewater Treatment Plant.
 
A consent term of 5 years is sought for all three resource consents.
Please note: A change of term has been requested. Downloadable documents list 35 years as the term time, this is no longer correct and has been changed to 5 years.
