Local body voting closed at 12 noon on Saturday 12 October, with the preliminary results now available on Horizons Regional Council’s website www.horizons.govt.nz.
Horizons electoral officer Craig Grant says these results are an update from the progressive ones provided on Saturday afternoon. “While these results are not final, they provide a snapshot of the 97 per cent of the votes counted so far,” says Mr Grant. “At this point in time, Horizons will have six returning councillors: Bruce Gordon (Manawatū-Rangitikei), Rachel Keedwell, Jono Naylor, and Wiremu Te Awe Awe (Palmerston North), and David Cotton and Nicola Patrick who were elected unopposed (Whanganui); as well as six new councillors: Sam Ferguson and Emma Clarke (Horowhenua), John Turkington (Manawatū-Rangitikei), Fiona Gordon (Palmerston North), Weston Kirton (Ruapehu), and Allan Benbow (Tararua). “The next results made available with be the final results, which will declared and then posted on the elections page of our website between 19-25 October 2019.
