This chapter covers accelerated erosion*, including the management of vegetation clearance*, land disturbance*, forestry* and cultivation*.

Activities related to land management which are covered in other chapters include:
  1. discharges of agrichemicals*, agricultural wastes* and other contaminants onto or into land, addressed in Chapter 5
  2. activities involving the beds of rivers and lakes, addressed in Chapter 5
  3. clearance of indigenous vegetation and drainage of significant wetlands, addressed in Chapter 6.
