Horizons Regional Council is required to publish the fact it is a minor aspect supplier when it comes to 'three waters' (wastewater, stormwater and drinking water). The water services Horizons supplies to users, such as campers at our one regional park (Tōtara Reserve Regional Park), tenants of Horizons-owned properties, visitors to facilities we own, and staff, are well within what we have determined constitutes minor aspects of water services. Horizons' function as a water services provider is on a very small scale. The largest suite of water services we provide is at Tōtara Reserve, where we provide treated bore water, as well as two effluent systems. Both of these functions serve only Tōtara Reserve and are not connected to another water service provider. Other water services are provided at a small number of rental or leased properties, which are a mix of houses and commerical, around the region, which through receiving city/town water and waste systems may also contain rainwater collection and septic disposal systems. Horizons also has depot facilities which receive water supply from other service providers and many provide disconnected wastewater treatment or collect rainwater and have septic effluent systems and/or washdown area treatment fields. You can learn more details, including a list of all of Horizons' water services, in the PDF below.
