Local body voting closed at 12 noon today and progressive results are now available on Horizons Regional Council’s website.
Horizons electoral officer Craig Grant says that these results are only progressive, providing a snapshot of the results so far. “Approximately 95 per cent of votes have now been counted,” says Mr Grant. “These initial results are just a snapshot, preliminary results may differ as more results come in over the weekend. “Results will continue to be posted on the Elections page of our website throughout the week until the special votes have been accounted for and a final declaration of results are posted between 19-25 October. “Local body elections are held every three years and Horizons Regional Council comprises six constituencies, represented by 12 councillors including two from Whanganui, two from Manawatū-Rangitīkei, two from Horowhenua, four from Palmerston North, one from Tararua, and one from Ruapehu. “David Cotton and Nicola Patrick have been declared elected unopposed for the two Whanganui seats as the number of candidate nominations did not exceed the number of vacancies.” At this stage the results are as follows: 12 October 2019 1.00 pm PROGRESS RESULTS OF ELECTION – OCTOBER 2019 MANAWATŪ-WHANGANUI REGIONAL COUNCIL (trading as Horizons Regional Council) WHANGANUI CONSTITUENCY (two members) There was no election for this constituency as David COTTON and Nicola PATRICK were elected unopposed. HOROWHENUA CONSTITUENCY (two members) 95% of votes counted
