Kei te ora te wai, kei te ora te whenua, kei te ora te tangata

If the water is healthy, the land, and the people are nourished

What do you value when it comes to freshwater? Do you have a connection with your local awa? Maybe you use fresh water for farming, swimming, mahinga kai, or fishing?

Last year Central Government released the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management. This policy gives council the chance to work alongisde tangata whenua and our communities to understand what values are held for fresh water and what that means for setting a regional direction for how we manage fresh water.

It's your chance to be involved from the beginning of this process, this is the first engagement of five over the next four years and will be part of a One Plan change in 2024.
