Objective 17-1: Regulation of structures^ and activities in artificial watercourses* and in the beds^ of rivers^ and lakes^, and damming

The regulation of structures^ and activities in artificial watercourses* and in the beds^ of rivers^ and lakes^, and damming, in a manner that:

  1. safeguards life supporting capacity, and recognises and provides for the Values and management objectives in Schedule B, and
  2. has regard to the objectives and policies of Chapter 5 that relate to structures^ and activities in artificial watercourses* and in the beds^ of rivers^ and lakes^, and damming.
Objective 17-2: Fish passage
The passage of fish is maintained, or is improved, by instream structures^, except where it is desirable to prevent the passage of some fish species in order to protect desired fish species, their life stages, or their habitats.
