Thinking about heading to Wellington for a day or two? With comfy seats, competitive fares, toilets and food onboard it’s hard to go past the Capital Connection train.
Leaving from the Palmerston North railway station at 6.15am weekdays, the Connection stops at Shannon, Levin, Otaki, Waikanae and Paraparaumu along the way before arriving in the centre of Wellington at 8.20am.
Horizons transport manager Anne Redgrave says the service is ideal for business travellers, school children and day-trippers alike with no need to worry about parking costs or traffic delays.
“The Capital Connection makes it easy to get to and from Wellington. There’s no need to worry about traffic which can be a real hassle as you get further down the line. You can just sit back, enjoy the scenery, read the paper or make use of the tables and plug in your laptop to get some work done,” she says.
Concession fares are available for SuperGold Card holders and students with ID and single, 10-trip, monthly and quarterly passes can also be purchased onboard the train, from the Palmerston North i-Site and from the Waikanae, Paraparaumu and Wellington train stations.
