Summer monitoring 2013/2014

Swim spot monitoring is underway for this summer season.  Sampling is done each week until the end of April 2014.  The most recent results are posted in the table below.

A helpful and surprisingly accurate rule of thumb for swimmers is that:

  • If the water looks clean and clear and it is a sunny day, it should be safe to swim
  • It is safest to wait three days after rain before swimming at river swimming spots
  • If musty smelling, black slimy mat-like growths are observed on river bed stones during low river flows, it is safest for you and your dog to avoid using the river.
