Manawatū-Whanganui Regional Council – Regulatory Team (MWRC) has received a suite of applications from Department of Conservation for the upgrade and operation of the Whakapapa Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Resource consents are being sought from Manawatū-Whanganui Regional Council for the following activities:
 
Discharge Permit to treat and store wastewater and the associated discharge of treated wastewater to land: To discharge treated wastewater that may enter into land via seepage from the floor and walls of the tertiary treatment pond.
 
Discharge Permit to discharge treated wastewater to land which may enter water: To discharge treated wastewater to land from a constructed wetland via an infiltration area.
 
Discharge Permit to discharge aerosols and odour to air: The discharge of aerosols and odour to air associated with the receipt, treatment and storage of wastewater within the Whakapapa Wastewater Treatment facilities.
 
Discharge Permit to discharge treated wastewater to water: To discharge treated wastewater to water being an unnamed tributary of the Wairere Stream as an emergency discharge during extreme weather events exceeding a 1 in 100-year rainfall event.
 
A term of 28 Years is sought for all consents.

Submissions

Public submissions can be received up until June 16, 2017 4:45 pm

If you wish to comment in any way on the proposal you need to make a submission.

The submission must include:

  1. Details of the applications in respect of which you are making the submission;

  2. Your name, postal address, telephone number, fax number and email address (if applicable);

  3. Whether you support or oppose the applications;

  4. Whether you wish to be heard in respect of the submission;

  5. The reasons for making the submission and the decision you wish the consent authority to make;
