Scheme Criteria
Assessment Information
If you or someone you know has a disability or is experiencing mobility issues, please contact us to arrange an assessment.
An assessment should take no longer than 30 minutes and will include questions about your disability or mobility issues. Your assessor will explain how the scheme works, and take a head and shoulders photo of you. This photo will be printed onto your subsidy card for ID purposes. You are welcome to bring a support person, family member or friend to the assessment.
Electronic Card
Once your eligibility has been approved you will receive a subsidy card in the mail, with your photo on. This card will activate your subsidy when using approved taxi services. Contact information on taxi services that are part of the Total Mobility scheme will be provided to you with your card. It will take about 10 working days for your card to arrive.
Subsidy
The subsidy you will receive will be a 65% discount up to a capped amount. The capped amount for each district is shown below.
Location | Amount |
Horowhenua | $13 |
Palmerston North | $13 |
Manawatū | $13 |
Whanganui | $13 |
If the total cost of your trip is $10.00, we pay $6.50 and you pay $3.50
If the total cost of your trip is $65.00, we pay $13.00 (the maximum subsidy amount) and you pay $52.00.
As the eligible Total Mobility client, you must travel in the vehicle to claim your subsidy. You cannot ask a driver to collect goods and/or other passengers, and use Total Mobility to pay for the service. However, you can travel with a carer, a family member or a friend at no extra cost.
