Pay Property Rates

There are several ways to pay, allowing you to select the option that best suits. These options are also listed on the back of your rates invoice. If you’d rather receive your invoice by email in the future, that’s not a problem. In your invoice you will find a unique code (and a link) you can use to sign up online.

Annual Consent Monitoring Charges

Section 36 of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA), Section 243 of the Building Act 2004 and Section 150 of the Local Government Act 2002 (LGA) enables local authorities to fix charges for various administrative and monitoring activities. Horizons Regional Council sets their Section 36 charges every year through the Annual Plan process and issues these to consent holders to assist with our consent monitoring work and for our science, research and environmental monitoring activities. Land

Horizons' land management work focuses on reducing erosion, protecting soil health and encouraging sustainable use of our land resources. To carry out this work we lead and support a number of work programmes across the region including the Sustainable Land Use Initiative (SLUI).

District and Land Advice

Horizons’ District Advice team provides information and advice to members of the public on natural hazards and Horizons’ One Plan requirements for property developments as well as information for prospective property purchases, insurance matters and land valuation assessments. The most common advice sought is around flooding and residential development.
