Elections
Elections are held every three years at the same time as elections for city and district councils.
The last local election was held on 11 October 2025 by postal vote using the First Past the Post system.
2025 elections
We received 32 nominations for the 2025 elections, well up on the 22 candidates we had in 2022. They covered a wide age range and came from a variety of backgrounds, helping to provide people with a diverse choice when it came time to vote.

Elections donations and expenses
People who stand for election are required to provide election donations and expenses forms, detailing donations and spending during their campaigns.
