Introduced animals impact our native plants and animals

Aotearoa is a unique landscape which is isolated from the rest of the world, due to this we have a unique array of birds, lizards and insects that are endemic (not found anywhere else in the world), and only two native mammals, the bats.

There were no predatory land mammals until the arrival of humans who brought with them rats, stoats, ferrets, hedgehogs, and possums which have had have a huge impact on our ecosystems
