Where elections are required, they will be conducted by postal voting using the First Past the Post electoral system. Voting will open on Tuesday 9 September 2025 and will close at 12 noon on Saturday 11 October 2025.

As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Te Kenehi TEIRA is elected unopposed.
Māori Constituency Poll
A poll will be held in conjunction with the above elections to confirm whether Horizons Regional Council electors wish to keep or remove the Māori Constituencies as part of Horizons Regional Council’s representation structure. The outcome of the poll is binding and will determine whether the Māori Constituencies will be retained for the Horizons Regional Council elections in 2028 and 2031. The First Past the Post (FPP) Electoral System will be used for this poll.
Enrolment and Special Voting Arrangements
Residents within the areas of these elections who are not listed on their local city or district council final electoral rolls can enrol up to 5pm on Friday 10 October 2025 by calling 0800 36 76 56, visiting the Electoral Commission websitewww.vote.nz, by texting your name and address to 3676 to get a form sent to you or by email request toenquiries@elections.govt.nz.
Ratepayers within the areas of these elections who are not listed on their local city or district council final electoral rolls can obtain enrolment forms at the city or district council offices they pay rates to and enrol up to the close of business for that city or district council on Friday 10 October 2025. Online applications for ratepayer elector registration can also be made atwww.electionz.com/ratepayer.
Special voting documents for the above elections will be available during normal office hours between Tuesday 9 September and Friday 10 October 2025 and from 9am to 12 noon on Saturday 11 October 2025 at the main offices of the city or district councils within the Horizons Regional Council area. Please check with your local city or district council for special voting arrangements in your area.
