Horizons seeks feedback on Horowhenua bus services

Horizons Regional Council is seeking feedback from Horowhenua residents on the three public transport services available within the district.

Horizons transport manager Phil Hindrup says a survey has been distributed to households district-wide this week, along with information about each of the services, including where and when they run, and the fares charged for each.

“The feedback received will help inform the retendering of the services which are due later this year, and confirm the timetables going forward. We want to hear from all residents – both bus users and those who are yet to try any of the services.”

Feedback should be submitted by 8 August, so the survey results can be presented at the next Passenger Transport Committee meeting on 21 August.

The three services provided by Horizons in the district are the Levin to Palmerston North weekday commuter, the Levin to Waikanae service which runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the ‘Day out in Town’ service which runs every Friday.

Included with the survey is information highlighting a minor timetable change to the Levin to Waikanae service.

“Greater Wellington has made a slight adjustment to their train timetables and as a result we have adjusted the bus departure times. As of 15 July, services are departing 10 minutes earlier. This operational change ensures passengers still have the opportunity to connect to the train travelling south from Waikanae,” says Mr Hindrup.

The survey is also available on our website, which can be filled out and emailed to transport@horizons.govt.nz.

Alternatively residents can grab a copy of the survey on-board the buses, at the Horowhenua District Council front desk, and Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō.
