Horizons Regional Council has launched a new Connect website for its public transport network, giving passengers across the Horizons Region a single place to plan journeys, access public transport information and view service updates and alerts.

Horizons Regional Council team leader public transport Jayme Thorby says by giving Connect its own dedicated website, goconnect.org.nz, it is now simpler to find transport information without needing to go through the wider council website.

“It also helps to make public transport services easier to navigate, particularly for those using them for the first time,” says Mrs Thorby.

“Until now, public transport information has been housed within the Horizons Regional Council website. As the Connect brand and services have grown, it became clear it needed its own dedicated online home where people can quickly find what they need.”

“Whether you're planning a trip, checking a timetable or viewing service updates, the website brings together key public transport information in one place, including digital routes, timetables, fares and interactive journey planning tools, making it easier to plan and use the network.

“The website has also been designed with accessibility in mind and works across mobile phones, tablets and desktop computers, recognising people often access transport information while they are on the go.

“Connect is about removing barriers to public transport, and the new website is part of supporting the journey from planning through to travel.

“The website now reflects the Connect brand, providing a consistent look and feel across the Horizons Region’s public transport system.”

Staff are looking forward to adding further improvements over time and continuing to respond to feedback from our community, says Mrs Thorby.

“People who have feedback about the new website can use the feedback form on the Connect website: https://goconnect.org.nz/contact.

“Other journey planning tools, such as Google Maps, Apple Maps and the Transit app, are not impacted by the new website.”

Horizons Regional Council is responsible for planning and funding public transport services across the Horizons Region.
